The top three most common excuses I hear (and sometimes use myself, hah!) are: I’m too tired, I’m too busy, and I’m not motivated.
Below are 3 tips on how to get your workout in no matter how tired/busy/unmotivated you are:
- Shorter workouts can be super beneficial to not only save you time, but to help you get more fit! If you only have 15 minutes to workout, you can really push the intensity and get a great HIIT workout in. Or if you like something more low-key but don’t have an hour for a walk outside, even just 10 minutes will up your energy, help you clear your mind and destress.
- If you’re just getting back into exercise, set the bar really low. Go for a 10 minute walk a couple times each week, or do a short yoga or Pilates video on YouTube. Do anything that will get you moving even just a little bit. Before you know it, your body will start craving that movement and you’ll have created this really simple, healthy habit without a whole lot of effort.
- If you’re just having one of those days where working out is the last thing you want to do, start small. Start by doing your 3 favorite exercises for a few rounds and see if you feel like doing more- chances are you’ll want to. Or use the same tips above and find a quickie video online you can do in no time.
- Print out a blank calendar and write in the days you’re going to workout and what you’re going to do for that workout. Include other mini-challenges like extra pushups, extra squats and water goals each day, too, so you can make sure you’re building up healthy habits without overhauling your life! Getting yourself on some kind of routine or schedule helps make exercise a habit so you don’t have to think about it all the time and stress about getting your workouts in or not.
